Victorian Era Cut Steel Pendant Necklace

19th century era cut steel necklace, with steel tear drops. The intricate steel pendant hangs on steel bead chain necklace. English in origin. Circa 1840.
Cut steel was used as a remarkably effective imitation of rose cut diamonds. Its popularity endured well into the 19th century as the subdued dark sparkle was also considered appropriate for second stage mourning adornment.
The steel beads are from the period but have been strung on a modern necklace and clasp.
Pendant hangs 3.5" drop length and 1.5" wide. Hangs on a beaded necklace which measures 16.25" in total length.
