Georgian Era Enamel Gold Band
England, circa 1820.
18k gold band with cobalt blue and white enamel stripes. The enamel decoration suggests the ring may have been worn as a sentimental or mourning band. Blue enamel was traditionally associated with fidelity and enduring affection, while white symbolized purity and innocence. In mourning jewelry, white enamel was sometimes used to commemorate an unmarried person or child.
Size 9.75, cannot be resized.
