Victorian Era Diamond Fox Head Charm

England, circa 1870.

Set with old mine-cut diamonds and ruby eyes, this tiny fox head charm was likely once a top-of-a-stick pin and later converted into a pendant.

In the 19th century, fox hunting was a powerful social ritual among the gentry and a popular motif in decorative art.  Symbolically, the fox is seen as the clever trickster who survives by wit rather than strength. The fox can represent intelligence, quick thinking, and the ability to outsmart difficulties.

The coin measures .50 inches in drop length and .25 inches wide. Antique and modern gold chains are sold separately and are available in-store. Please call or email the shop to inquire.
