Victorian Era Carnelian Intaglio Pendant

England, circa 1850. 

The intaglio depicts two Cherubs on a seesaw with the Latin phrase "Telle est la vie", meaning "Such Is Life", the same sentiment as the more common c'st la vie. The gold work framing the carved stone has beautiful hand-engraved details.  

Measures 1.25 inches in drop length. The intaglio and frame measure 0.90" long and 0.75" wide.
