19th Century Cut Steel Necklace


Early 19th Century Cut steel necklace.  Nice sleek circle motif. This very long example has the original integrated steel clasp.

Steel Jewelry was introduced in the mid 1700's. Its popularity was spurred by the French Revolution. Used as an effective diamond imitation, the desire for the dark gray sparkle endured well into the 19th century. 

This example is a nice long size, measuring 18.5" in length.
