19th Century Silenus Mask Cameo Ring

Early 19th Century Georgian era ring with hardstone carving of a Silenus mask. Georgian carving set in later 18k gold setting. English in origin. Circa 1800. 

Silenus, a Greek mythological creatures was a companion and tutor to the wine god Dionysus. Silenus was thought to be the oldest, wisest and most drunk of Dionysus followers. When drunk, he was said to possess special knowledge and power of prophecy.
