Antique Essex Crystal Horse Brooch

Beautifully carved and painted Essex crystal pendant.   A depiction of a brown horse or pony in bright crystal.  Found in London, Circa 1900 in 9k gold.

Essex crystal, sometimes referred to as a reverse intaglio, was popularized in the Victorian era and into the Edwardian era. The reverse intaglio was made from rock crystal cabochons that had been carved on the flat backside, where an image was carved in reverse and hand-painted. A tiny work of art.

Measures 75" wide.
