17th Century Black Enamel Posy Band
England, circa 1770.
An excavated ring from England in high-carat gold. This ring has spent some of its 250-year life buried underground and was recently rediscovered. Much of the black enamel is still intact with a ribbon motif. The Latin phrase "Ubi amore ibi fides" is hand-engraved on the interior, meaning "Where there is love, there is faith." A scarce survival from the late 18th century.
