Georgian Nelson Era Micro Carved Ship Ring

Georgian era ring dates to a time when British Royal Navy was battling Napoleon’s French fleet. Very likely made as a love token for an admiral’s wife to wear while he was away at sea.

Being that the micro carving is fragile, it is a rare survival of a micro carving. The warship is set under crystal with golden canon details, on a hand painted ground of waves, flanked by armed walls. The scene is surrounded by flat cut garnets. Reeded back detail. English in origin. Late 18th century.
