Portuguese Paste Pendeloque Earrings
Late 18th century Portuguese white paste earrings set in silver with original ear wires. The pendeloque came into fashion because its elongated outline counterbalanced the extreme height of hairstyles around the 1770's. See a similar pair at the Victoria Albert Museum in London. Neo-classical in design.
Drop measures 3 1/4". At widest point earring width is 5/8".
