Victorian Era Diamond Maltese Cross
England, circa 1850.
A bright diamond pendant with the romantic sparkle only old cut diamonds can achieve. Approximately 4 carats in total weight, dozens of old mine-cut and rose-cut diamonds are set in silver on gold. A versatile piece, the scale is appropriate for a long or short chain.
Maltese crosses were worn in the 19th century to represent charity, chivalry, and protection.
The cross measures 2.25 inches in drop length and 2 inches wide. Chains are sold separately. Please inquire about our available antique or modern chain options. Photographed with the Art Deco style platinum and diamond chain.
