Victorian era jet earrings. Hand-carved in the form of an acorn. Very light in weight and easily worn. English in Origin. Circa 1860.
Acorns hold great symbolism as the small seed of the mighty oak tree. For centuries they have been used in decorative arts to represent potential, strength, and longevity. In 1797 D. Everett wrote "Large streams from little fountains flow. Tall oaks from little acorns grow." We too believe that great things come from small beginnings.
