Victorian-era gold rock crystal locket. The crystal-clear quartz stones are cut in a way that grabs and plays with light, creating a beautiful visual effect. Lockets such as these predate commercial photography and were made to hold a loved one's plaited hair. They can be worn empty or with a small keepsake. English in origin. Circa 1860.
